THE EYES OF GOD
PAN AND MAS 2018

Art is the highest form of human communication, and music is the highest form of art.
- Maria Callas.

Pan is our own music. Mas is our own art. We play the pan. We play the mas. When we play at our best we are brilliant. Our concert halls, our art galleries and performance stages are huge, wide open public spaces. We inhabit the entire town with our works of art. The City Streets, the Savannah, the Panorama, Dimanche Gras, J’ouvert, and Mardi Gras, everything, all about, everywhere becomes our canvas, our stage, our orchestra pit.

Our island adages are unique.
All ah we is one.
One love.

We were taught them, we experienced them, as children. As adults we express them as best we can. We turn them into art. Woven into the extraordinary tapestry of a small Caribbean island is a mighty proverb. Pan and mas are destined to take this message to the world.

ALL MEN ARE EQUAL
IN THE EYES OF GOD.
WOULD THAT
ALL GODS WERE EQUAL
IN THE EYES OF MAN.

We will make a contemporary work of art, in the medium  of pan and mas, and in the media. We will communicate our message to the island, to the Caribbean, to the world. It must be a work that is relevant to the times in which we live, both in its meaning and the manner in which it is done.

Imagine, as John Lennon did.
Or in the words of Michael Jackson, We Are The World.

Yes. Imagine, that we are the world, and we have a duty, a responsibility,, a statement to make, a message to deliver, which will be as serious as it is uplifting and joyous. And why not? Think of the Hallelujah Chorus. We can do it!

We name our work of art
THE EYES OF GOD.

One love

Exodus and Callaloo

Ainsworth and Minshall

And a whole bunch of artists, young and old, eager to communicate in the highest human form, in the highest form of art. Pan and Mas.
